Thanks for the postcard, it gave me a good laugh. I had completely forgotten you were sending one until I saw it in my mailbox today, mere days before I leave for the Summer. You really cut it close. On a completely different note, Bruce was in Chicago last night. I made no attempt to go, and I was really kicking myself for missing "I'm On Fire," and "Incident on 57th Street" and "The River," both on the piano. Of course, this is in addition to the tour regulars, plus what appears to be the world premiere of a song called "Dream." Sheesh. I have to find a way into the show in Roma.

I had dinner with Ellen and her parents last night, and they are big Bruce fans. I was talking to her dad about him, and he was saying his first concert in 1978, Darkness tour I guess, Bruce would end the set by "dying" and being carried off the stage in a stretcher or something before coming back out for the encore. He also asked me how the tradition of the crowd singing "Show a little faith..." started, and I honestly thought he was quizzing me. Turns out he was just wondering.

Singing for the lonely... turns out the song "Dream" was a Roy Orbison cover. I remember making dinner with Derbs for the Collegiate Fourth last year, listening to XRT when "Because the Night" came on. Ellen and I were the only people to recognize in three notes that it was the Bruce version. She then went on to tell me her family's Bruce exploits. I remember something about her Aunt(?) working at the Savvis Center and being able to get tickets. Can you confirm this?

Her aunt does in fact work at Savvis; a higher-up in the PR department I believe. Martin recognized her name, he thought, but couldn't quite place her. I think she got her parents tickets for the E Street reunion tour at Kiel on April 8 2000 that was my first Bruce show.

Doc sent me the Penny quote right after it happened.

April 8, 2000: Your Baptism. Now they are saying "Dream Baby Dream" is by a band called Suicide. It sure is causing confusion. Mets are pondscum.
